Initial Points to Consider for Choosing Gemstones
What is the stone’s color? Color characteristics generally follow those used for color therapy, as in the colors of the rainbow, the chakra colors and colors of the aura.
What is the stone’s color depth? In most cases the deeper the coloration, the more its individual energies are enhanced.
What is the stone’s size? Best energy results are obtained when the stone is at least two carats minimum. A carat equals 0.2 grams or 1/28 of an ounce.
What is the stone’s purity? Only those stones of the best quality should be used, especially for healing. However, impurities or flaws can give a stone unique properties which, if explored, may offer subtle yet powerful energy utilization purposes.
What is a stone’s clarity? Stones are transparent, translucent or opaque. Generally speaking, transparent stones transform energies passing through them; translucent stones absorb and release energies; and opaque stones deflect energies.
What is the stone’s basic crystalline structure, if it has one? There are six mineral crystal forms: Cubic, Tetragonal, Hexagonal, Orthorhombic, Monoclinic and Triclinic. The precious and semi-precious stones with the most energy transformations are classed among the first four of these. Cubic is based on 4, denoting the physical earth, matter and balance. Tetragonal is 3 on 4, symbolizing spirit over matter. Hexagonal focuses on 6, the number of humankind, of service, the fusion of matter and spirit. Orthorhombic projects the numberless variations of order in the Cosmos.
How is the stone cut? Shape generates energy; thus specific shapes create specific energy patterns. Generally speaking, a stone in its uncut, natural state is the most powerful, yet cut stones have more focused energies.
Is the stone sculptured or engraved with symbols? Any alteration of a stone’s three-dimensional shape, or addition of a two-dimensional image, will alter significantly its energy patterns and use.
How is the stone mounted if it has been given one? The kinds of metal employed, the shape of the mounting, and if the stone is mounted with other stones, will all have their effects on the energy properties of the stone. Some combinations of metal with stone, and stones with each other, are beneficial, but others can neutralize the energies, or can be negative and debilitating.
How is the stone to be worn, if it is to be used as a personal body adornment? The position of the stone on the body is most important, affecting whether it is to be used as a receiver or transmitter, and how it is to harmonize with your physical, mental, emotional, karmic and spiritual energies. The stone should also complement and/or balance your auric color and patterns.
What is the stone to be worn with? Stones worn as adornment can be influenced by such factors as other stones and metals worn on other parts of the body, the shape and color coordination of clothes, types of clothing materials and combinations of materials, other types of body ornamentation such as flowers, feathers, and even the shape of hairstyles and hats.
If not worn, where will the stone be placed? Generally, the energy field of a stone is three or more feet. If placed in a room, the shape of the room can influence and amplify its energies, both resonating with each other and anyone or anything in the room.
As examples of special attunement: A stone can be placed on the corner of the desk where you work, a gardener can plant them among the greenery, a housewife can put one in the kitchen or the windowsill to energize the house, an artist can fasten one to his or her easel, or anyone can place one under their bed or pillow to improve sleep and dreaming.
What environmental factors will surround the stone? Always remember that a stone is but a part of the Universal Whole, and can be affected by a wide variety of influences, which include:
Light, light intensity, color, heat, temperature extremes, sound, infra and ultrasound, vibration, pressure, movement, friction, electricity, electrical devices, magnetism, televisions, computers, microwave ovens, fluorescent lights, machinery, air quality and ions, wind, barometric pressure, climate, weather changes, humidity, water flow, bodies of water, energy shapes (containers, rooms, altars, mountings, symbols), the shape of the surrounding land, proximity to ore veins, earth fracture zones, centers of magnetic or gravitational anomalies, earth energy centers and energy-leys, water lines, the presence of other stones and metals, plant and animal life, the presence of nature spirits and other spirit entities, alterations of consciousness, bio-energy fields, psychic energies, emotional energies, healing energies, high creative energies, cosmic energies, as well as planetary, astrological, galactic and astral influences.
When should a stone be worn or used? Stones have life, and their energies are subject to rhythms of change, rising and falling in daily, weekly, monthly and yearly cycles, influenced by the sun, moon, planets, and your own bio-energy cycles, and state of consciousness. Some stones should only be worn or kept close to you at certain times when you are active, or when asleep, or in meditation-prayer. Times for using stones can be determined by your capacity to handle its energies.
Where did the stone originate? Where has it traveled to? What is its history? Who were its previous owners? How has the stone been used before? All these questions are very inter-related, and the answers can be obtained from several sources:
By examination by a good jeweler, through historical researching and interviewing past owners, having the stone psychometrized by a good psychic, and using your own intuitive powers coupled with a pendulum to question-dowse the stone.
Where a stone has come from, and where it has been will determine what energies have been instilled into it by the natural energy patterns of different parts of the planet. One must also consider the influences of the cultures and consciousness of those who initially found the stone, how it was taken out of the Earth Mother, and who have subsequently handled it.
Synthetic stones, for example, are worth very little as tools because they are attuned to the business, monetary and materialistic levels of those who manufactured them.
The stone’s history and previous ownership is also crucial in knowing the stone’s present energy disposition. Every stone contains a memory of the mental, emotional, psychic, karmic, spiritual, healing or possible negative energies infused into it over the course of its existence among human company.
In learning of these characteristics, you may wish to enhance certain aspects which parallel your own desired use of the stone, and work to cleanse others that are not harmonious. You may also find that you yourself have owned and utilized the stone in past lives, and have a karmic relationship with it.
What is the stone’s inherent spiritual purpose? This question is of primary importance. Every stone has its own spirit entity, its own mineral intelligence or deva that is the guiding principle behind the stone’s evolutionary development. It is crucial, before using any stone, to open communication with its spirit to determine its disposition, and learn from it not only the purpose for its being, but asking if your desired use of the stone will aid it in its evolutionary process.
Seek to find a common ground of understanding and cooperation, whereby you and the stone shall both grow and evolve spiritually together to your mutual benefit, which at the same time remains in balance and harmony with the growth of all else that exists around you.
How shall the stone be used? In empathy with the stone’s inherent purpose, you must determine how you wish to utilize it to its best potential. Stones can draw out, attract, deflect, store like a battery, transmit, amplify, tune, condense, synthesize, balance and harmonize energies. These properties can serve to heal both generally and specifically, diagnose, increase fertility, vitality, protect, prevent disease, balance energy, attune spiritually, improve telepathy and psychic abilities, change weather, contact nature spirits, direct the flow of earth energies, and increase physical, mental, emotional, psychic, healing, higher creative, spiritual and cosmic energies.
Does the stone feel good to you? If you have found a stone that will benefit you, you will know it on an intuitive level. It will also feel alive in your hand, warm and vibrating, giving you a generally good impression, as if it is a part of you, it belongs to you, and it has chosen you to be its owner.
If a stone does not feel good, and possessing it causes pain, depression, nausea, weakness, negativity, anxiety, ill will or headaches, then discard it and search for another stone with similar properties that feels friendlier.
Always be sensitive to the fact that as you change, you may need to change stones accordingly. If you move to a new location where the environment and surrounding mineral content is different, you may need to become more attuned to the new growth frequency around you by wearing another stone. Most important, as you progress in your spiritual development, expanding psychic abilities, finding better balance and attuning to higher vibrations, old stones will lose their power for you, and new stones must be sought to be in better harmony with your growth. Thank the spirit of the stone for its sharing with you on a common evolutionary path, but now detach from it, give it to someone you feel is at a stage in their growth where they could use such a stone, and seek guidance both from your own intuition and from counseling by a good psychic as to what new stone you may need next. Do not be held back by hanging on to old stones, for they can then have a negative effect. There is a right stone for every right state of being.
The Color of Stones
Stones are either dichromatic, their color is inherent in their make-up, or they are alochromatic, their colors are due to impurities. Both of these aspects give the stone power, but the first offers a more even-tempered energy flow.
Enhancing the color energies, some stones possess the qualities of chatoyance or iridescence, and asterism or star patterns. Both signify that the stone has reached a penultimate stage in its evolution and is a particularly good receptor for cosmic and higher spiritual energies.
The following are major gem colors and their general attributes:

Stones With Metals
The following is a list of metals most often used in mounting stones for jewelry, with their astrological and energy properties:
ALUMINUM (Neptune) — A good conductor of heat and electricity. It is the most abundant element in the Earth’s surface, and aids in communication with the Earth Mother. Also good for preservation and spiritual stability.
ANTIMONY (Venus) — Enhances harmony between body and mind. It is a receptor of cosmic and higher creative energies, and brings life energies under control. Star patterns that can form in the metal indicate its ability to concentrate energies for focus and meditation. Antimony also unites and harmonizes energies of different stones.
CARBON STEEL (Mars, Pluto) — A piece of carbon steel carried in a front pocket or purse helps to ionize the body, preventing colds and congestion. It also promotes equilibrium, and directs excess energy to deficient areas.
COPPER (Venus) — This metal intensifies energies, polarizes, redistributes body deposits, and offers protection. Likewise it is a good channel for sexual energies, warmth and pleasure. By itself, copper is most beneficial when worn as bracelets and arm bands, or as a disc two to four inches in diameter over the heart. With stones it is an excellent conductor of their energies, especially red-colored stones.
GOLD (Sun) — The element gold is recognized as being the best of all conductors of energy, being all healing, a receptor of life energies, the metal of protection and high Initiation. It is the supreme metal of the Earth Mother. By itself, it helps balance the base and sexual chakras, needs to be of a special shape when worn over the solar plexus chakra, and in contact with the heart chakra gold is a balancer between the upper and lower energy centers of the body. It is likewise an excellent receptor of earth energies, bringing attunement to the Earth and Nature. Added with a gem in water, it amplifies the energies of the elixir, or can be rubbed directly on the body to promote healing. It also amplifies the energies of any stone it is set in, and aids in balancing other metals and stones mounted with it.
IRON (Mars) — The characteristics of iron are its action as a magnetic energizer, a cleanser, a grounder, a resistor, and a binder of the soul to the body. It is an excellent accumulator of physical energy, of will power, and an amplifier of the solar plexus, as well as any stone which offers physical strength.
LEAD (Saturn) — The heavy metal whose key words are preservation, grounding, protection, stability, hardening, dampening and strength. In general it subdues energies of most stones, except those which aid in prophecy, divination, maturity and spiritual transformation which it enhances.
MAGNESIUM (Sun) — This metal soothes pain, and gives special protection against negativity, while being receptive to the energies of the plant kingdom.
NICKEL (Mars, Venus) — Nickel possesses the spiritual properties of protection, balance and harmony, synthesis of stone energies, beauty and youthfulness. It is also the metal receptor for communications with the nature spirits and mineral kingdom.
PLATINUM (Neptune) — Another good metal which offers protection, balance and general equilibrium. It especially has a good affect on the heart chakra, also on the solar plexus and Third Eye chakras, and binds well the stones associated with them.
SILVER (Moon) — The lunar element, silver ranks only second to gold in importance as an excellent energy and heat conductor. It promotes general healing and physical growth, especially when it produces sound, as in a bell or gong. It both amplifies and stabilizes life and sexual energies, as well as offers sensitivity to the voices of Earth and Nature. Specifically it energizes the sexual, solar plexus and throat chakras, and over the heart should be worn as a disc two to four inches in diameter.
TIN (Jupiter) — Tin is the most commonly associated with overall healing, protection, adaptation, assimilation, self-evaluation, and the binding of energies together. In its higher aspect, it is an important metal in alchemical transmutation.
ZINC (Uranus) — Its properties include protection, preservation, physical well-being, and induces the flow of electricity and the life force.
Energizing Stones
One of the primary methods of energizing a stone—especially one that is to be used for healing, telepathy, psychic awareness, higher creativity or spiritual attunement—is to meditate with the stone, contact its mineral spirit, and daily infuse it with your own energy field. Here is a suggested procedure:
It may be necessary to neutralize the existing energies within the stone, to begin. This can be done by placing the stone in running water or soaking it in salt water for twenty-four hours, leaving it in an incense-filled room for twelve hours, burying it in earth for nine hours, blowing on it seven times, or passing it through a flame three times, or a combination of these.
To know what is best, allow the stone to speak to you, ask it intuitively or pendulum-dowse questions as to its needs. Ultimately, what type of cleansing and length of time for cleansing depends on the individual stone.
The best possible time to energize your stone is when both the Sun and Moon are in one or more of the stone’s astrological signs, and are in good aspect with one another.
The best time of day to do the energizing process is between dawn and noon, and at night, between dusk and midnight, during the light of the Full Moon.
For cosmic or interstellar-intergalactic communications, energize gemstones to be used when the Sun or Mercury is at 26 degrees of your Sun sign. Once again, let the stone tell you its needs, what its cycles are.
Choose a quiet place where you can be alone, preferably one outdoors or at least in direct sunlight, and if possible over a dowsed earth energy center. Prepare a small altar by spreading out a piece of white linen or silk on the ground, and placing on it objects which complement that of the energy and color of the stone. These may include herbs, flowers, feathers, metals, symbols, other stones, candles and incense. Surround these objects with a circle of quartz crystals, with their apexes point inward.
Sit before the altar, face north, hold the stone in your left hand and cover it with your right hand, and meditate, beginning with an OM chant and ending in silence. Lift your stone to your mouth and blow slowly on it. You are infusing your prana, your life energies and your thought forms into the stone.
At the same time, visualize the stone getting larger and larger and see yourself entering into the stone. Take note of the stone’s inner shape, facets, atmosphere and energies. Breathe in the stone’s prana and be bathed in its colors. Now ask and visualize the stone’s spirit guardian meeting with you. Make contact with the mineral intelligence, let it introduce itself and tell you its inherent purpose. Find a common ground between its purpose and your intended use of the stone. Inform the spirit that you wish to utilize the stone in love and not by force, to cooperate with it and not manipulate it. And that it is to be used in harmony with all other energies of the Universe, in accordance with the flow of the Divine Pattern, as a part of the Oneness of all things. Repeat this as an affirmation several times, as needed. Be also aware that any negative use of the stone will result in the energies boomeranging back to the sender ten-fold in power.
In the process of fusing together the spirit’s purpose and your own purpose, lovingly visualize and project your own energies being instilled into the stone continuously. If the stone is being consecrated for someone else, picture them in your mind, or place a picture of that person within the stone as you hold it. You should give this person the stone as soon as possible once the energizing process is complete. Once you have placed your own energies into the stone, no one else should be allowed to touch it, except if it is to be used as a link with another person in love, telepathy, healing, friendship, psychic contact or spiritual attunement.
If the stone is for personal work, then choose a time every day to meditate with it, to visualize yourself inside it, to energize and talk with the stone, and communicate with its spirit, as a positive reinforcement. In a special place in your home re-assemble the energy altar, and when not in use keep the stone cleaned and wrapped in a linen or silk cloth, its apex or pointed end always turned into the center of the altar.
Daily re-affirm its purpose and use, projecting into it your energy, love and admiration for its beauty and power. The stone is not to be worshipped, but rather appreciated as a valuable tool, constantly learning how to better utilize it. After a time, the stone’s guardian will make stronger contact with you, tell you and show you images presented inside the stone’s facets, about the secrets of its past history among the volcanoes, oceans and mountains of the primordial world, and may reveal its hidden more secretive powers. Always accept this information with loving thanksgiving.
Additional specialized energizing of a stone can be accomplished by keeping it in an environment of harmonious sound or music. Different stones also are empowered in different lighting, such as in the light of the Sun, the Moon, starlight, candle light, fire, artificial light, or colored light. Other energy enhancers include spring or distilled water, salt, sea salt or sea water, heat, sulfur, mercury, flower essences and incense. The latter includes aloes, sandalwood, mastic, saffron, storax, camphor, frankincense, balsam, dragon’s blood, thorn apple, mandrake, musk, ambergris and sepia. Flower oils and essences include lotus, red and white rose, lilac, frankincense, myrrh, jasmine and lily.
Always be sure to ask the stone spirit what it needs.
Keeping a stone inside a north-aligned pyramid frame or model, at specific energy centers inside it, aids in amplifying specific characteristics:
*The energy center below the base of the pyramid promotes physical strength
*At the center on the base plane enhances mental-emotional energy and balance
*At the one-fourth level up are focused the powers of love and compassion
*At the one-third level is the place of life and healing energies, and higher creativity
*Just below the apex is the psychic center
*And above the apex is the focal area for spiritual attunement
After being kept inside a pyramid, the stone becomes an energy extension of the pyramid and its powers.
A stone can not only be energized by one person, but can receive the energies of a group of people bound by a common purpose or interest in the stone. When a stone is passed around and handled by a group, it takes on all the energies, fusing them together into a common power object for the group, and can become a catalyst for creating a group mind consciousness.
A stone placed for a time at the south pole of a magnet tends to increase its energies for healing purposes and the physical and auric field levels. A stone placed at the north pole of a magnet helps to align its energies to the celestial North Pole, and the portal to the Cosmos. Using such a specifically treated and energized stone enhances the owner’s high Initiations toward Transcendence.
Shaping Stones
In some stones, cutting them into crystal-like facets brings out their best qualities. In others it does not, and in still other stones it offers very specific qualities only. One must first consult the stone’s inner intelligence to ask its needs for growth, and your cooperation with it. In particular, transparent stones whose purpose is to channel light and energy through them should be cut to maximize their transparency and light refraction abilities.
In general, however, the uncut stone, left in its natural state, gives the optimum overall energies, while cutting the stone focuses its energies in one direction only. Stone energies, cut or uncut, are amplified significantly by polishing.
In its uncut or uncultured form, a triangular-shaped stone enhances spiritual influences.
*A square stone brings balance and stability
*A round stone offers increased life energies, psychic energies and cosmic energies
*And a stone that is larger in the center yet tapers to its edges is best for healing, and for contact with the nature kingdoms
In cutting and faceting a stone, an odd number of facets enhances its healing qualities, while an even number transforms the stone into an energizer and amplifier. The more facets a stone has, the more complex becomes its energy patterns and transformations:
*The cabochon cut, which gives the stone a flat bottom, is best for healing because it offers a larger surface for skin contact
*A pyramid cut amplifies telepathic and psychic awareness as well as spiritual attunement during meditation
*The marquis and emerald cuts are good receivers and transmitters
*A rhomboid cut balances energies
*A diamond is an all-purpose shape
*The double-pyramid cut, or octahedron, is the best balancer, though it is recommended only for those who can handle its high frequency energies
Some stones have natural circular depressions or holes. If having a stone cut or sculptured, leave these holes in, as they are centers of power vortices, as well as spirit dwelling places, in the stones. But in preparing a stone for mounting, avoid drilling holes into or through the stone, as this seriously disrupts the energy flow within the stone.
As important as the shape of the stone itself is the shape of the mounting it is to be set in. When the mounting follows the contour of the stone, the stone’s energies are amplified the most. However, other enhancing shapes, in descending order of energy are: triangular or pyramidal, circular or disc, oval, heart-shaped, crescent moon and half moon.
The beauty and energy of some stone material are improved by being sculpted into specific shapes. Among the best materials are turquoise, jasper, jade, carnelian, onyx, agate, jet and coral.
Shape creates not only energy patterns, but can also become a resonance chamber that will attract spirit presences of like vibration. As examples, stone sculptures of animal forms such as a lion, bear, owl or gazelle attract the archetypal energies of courage, strength, wisdom and agility, respectively, as well as opens lines of communication with the spirits of the nature kingdoms. In many cultures, sculpted stones of deities become household guardians, or objects which attract entities who, when given reverence and projected love, aid in protecting and energy balancing the dwelling.
Similarly, amulets—small stones carved into specific symbolic shapes—that are carried or worn upon the body, offer protection, healing, energizing, deeper meditation or altered states of consciousness. Stones, too, sculpted into the shape of its owner, can contain a portion of his or her soul essence, be infused with their energies as a remote amplifier, and also be used as a booster in telepathic contact and out-of-body experiences.
One of the most beautiful and powerful sculpting techniques is the creation of a cameo or intaglio. The stone so carved is one having contrasting color layers, as in onyx, sardonic and agate. Cameos use the second layer as the background, leaving a raised figure. Intaglios are in bas-relief, with the top layer as the background.
A symbol is a two-dimensional or linear signature of an unseen three-dimensional energy field. A symbol or combination of symbols that are known to be most powerful and are used for protection, healing, psychic awareness and meditation, is called a talisman. Talismans, engraved on stone, greatly increase its energy, and focus its energies toward specific purposes.
Examples of the most often used symbols on stones include the pyramid, the Star of David, the Ankh, the Gaelic Cross, the Sun, Moon, planets, zodiacal signs, names or symbols or images of deities, spirits, powerful animals, alchemical signs, ancient alphabets, religious symbols and quotations from religious works.
Letters can denote energy sounds, names or mantras of power, initials of sacred names or energy spells, or hidden numbers, as in gematria. Number symbols tend to intensify specific energy levels. In cases where a stone is not available, the name of the stone or its gematriac number, written on a piece of paper or wood, or corresponding stone or metal harmonically lower on the evolutionary spiral, will emanate with the same energies as the gemstone itself.
Stones Worn on the Body
In wearing or holding a stone, you may find that it feels good to begin with, but then after a few hours or even minutes this may be replaced by flashes of dizziness, nausea and mental fuzziness, or the place where it is worn may ache or be in pain, with sensations of small electrical shocks.
These are an indication that the stone may be too powerful for you to wear on a continuous basis and you should take it off. Instead, wear or hold it for only a few minutes the first day, and gradually increase the time in the following days, so that your body energy fields can get used to the stone. You may also want to experiment, wearing the stone only during certain activities such as meditation, and wearing it in different body locations, studying your reactions, and finally choosing when and where you should wear the stone for the best potential. Use your own intuition, the guidance of a good psychic, and a pendulum, to ask the stone how best to wear it.
The following is a listing of the different ways a stone may be worn, and its general effects:
HAIR FASTENER — Cosmic and psychic energy receptor; if worn toward the back of the head, it will affect the opening of the crown chakra, and dream communications
HEADDRESS, HAT — Receiver for cosmic energies, energizes the crown chakra, amplifies channeling of the Divine Principle and the Seat of Agapé
DIADEM, HEAD BAND — Third eye opening, psychic reception, psychic visions, telepathic communications, transmission, protection, amplifier
EARRINGS — If worn on both ears, they balance the left-right brain energies, increasing perception, discernment, clarity of thinking; if worn on one ear, it promises heightened corresponding left or right brain activities; the ears are reflexology points for body healing Earrings also attract affinity of the stone qualities in others towards the wearer
NOSE, LIP, TONGUE RINGS — Aids in breathing, circulation, digestion and healing in general
CHIN EXTENSION, FALSE BEARD — Forms an energy bridge between the heart chakra and the Third Eye and crown chakras, called by many past civilizations the Rainbow Bridge
ARM BAND — Strengthens arm muscle activities, agility
BRACELET — Life energy amplifier, physical protection and stability, linked with reflexology points in the palms
FINGER RINGS — Life energy receptor (left hand), transmitter (right hand):
Left hand, index finger--receiver of direction, purpose, mental information, earth energy sensitivity.
Left hand, middle finger--receiver of higher creativity, life energies, protection
Left hand, third finger--receiving of healing, love energies
Left hand, little finger--receiver of psychic, universal energies
Right hand, index finger--transmits action, mental projection, earth energizing
Right hand, middle finger--transmits higher
creativity, life energies, protection
Right hand, third finger--transmits healing, love energies
Right hand, little finger--transmits psychic energies
Both thumbs--should never have a ring, as these are the fingers of free will and individual expression
SCEPTER OR STAFF — General energy receptor (in left hand), transmitter (in right hand); the type of energy depends on how the scepter is held, with the thumb touching which finger, as in the Hindu mudras
PINS — If worn on the left side of the body it will affect your sensitivity and emotional responses; if worn on the right side, it will affect your action and its manifestation
NECKLACE — Energizes the throat chakra, higher creativity receptor and transmitter, healing promoter, higher love transmitter and receiver, improves speech, toning and sound projection, adjusts the auric field and balances the emotions; the length of the chain for a necklace can determine the frequency of the higher creative, cosmic, earth and life energies received in the throat
NECKLACE COUNTERWEIGHT — Amplifies the reception of healing and higher creative energies
PENDANT, MEDALLION OR BREASTPLATE — Activator and protector of the heart chakra as the seat of judgment and compassion, and the focal point of balance and synthesis of all energies within the body—cosmic, psychic, higher creativity, love, auric, healing, physical and earth energies; the length of the chain for the pendant or medallion can determine the frequency of the love energies receive in the heart
CHAIN LOCKET IN POCKET OR PURSE — For protection, general auric cleansing and healing
GIRDLE, BELT, BELT BUCKLE, WAIST BAND — Activates the base, sexual and solar plexus chakras, amplifies sexual and solar plexus energies of the will and lower physical powers
THIGH, LEG OR KNEE BAND — Leg muscle activator, giving strength, agility, speed; activator of the new chakras below the base chakra
ANKLE BRACELET — Earth energy amplifier and protector; activates new chakras in the ankles and feet
TOE RING — Earth energy receptor (left foot), transmitter (right foot), promotes body healing in association with foot and toe reflexology points
In wearing stones, it is best to keep a balance among stones representing the four elements of fire, air, water and earth. Generally, clear, white and violet stones are of air quality. Red, orange and yellow are fire. Gold, brown and black denote the earth. And green and blue stones are of water qualities. Stones may also be utilized to either complement or balance out the elemental colors in your auric field, or in your astrological birth signs.
Stones for Communications
There are a variety of ways stones may be used as instruments to communicate by:
*A stone having good communications properties, when held in the left hand (as a receiver) or right hand (as a transmitter) during meditation, works best by being gripped with the thumb, index finger and little figure; both sender and receiver should have their own stone, which have been energized and attuned together, and with both individuals joining in psychic or telepathic bond
*A stone for psychic or telepathic contact can also be placed on the Third Eye, held with the left hand to receive impressions, the right hand to transmit
*A stone worn about the neck or heart area, as a necklace or pendant, can be a good amplifier for receiving and sending messages, but does not work well itself as an actual communicating stone
To test to see if a person is a good psychic sender or receiver, have the person hold a quartz crystal in their right hand for twenty minutes, then have them put the crystal down, momentarily shake their right hand, and pick up the crystal in their left hand. If after a minute or two the right hand begins to tingle or vibrate, then the individual is a good sender. If the crystal in the left hand begins to “dance,” this indicates the person is a good receiver. This is also a good method for testing for psychic healing abilities as well.
Rock crystal, opal, moonstone, sapphire and tiger eye are stones which sometimes form points of light or star patterns (asterisms) which when concentrated on can be focal points for communications.
Other stones, like diamonds, quartzes and crystal balls, are designed to be looked into or through, in order to gain psychic or telepathic communications.
A variation on this is what is called the earth-mirror or world-mirror, whereby a question or message is written on a piece of paper, placed under the stone, and then the stone is looked into for answers or responses.
In a visualization process, picture yourself inside the crystal, and ask the stone spirit to make contact for you, either the stone spirit they are working with in the other stone, or directly with the person you wish to communicate with. Allow the image of that person to manifest in one of the stone’s inner facets, speak to them, and listen for the answer.
Instill mental images in the inner facets of a stone, which can then be shared with someone else entering the stone at a later time. This technique of “crystal recording” was known to the prehistoric Atlanteans.
As either an amplifier or a direct communications device, a stone can be placed in a small compartment inside a metal pendulum, or on a pendulum tip, or even suspended on a chain itself and used as a pendulum, for answering yes or no questions by its swinging or circling motions. Stones can also be placed inside the handle or on the tip of dowsing rods, to enhance their energies for searching and for answering questions. Stones added to pendulums or rods can also lead the dowser to either the stone’s source, or to similar deposits undiscovered within the Earth.
The ancient art of lithomancy, or divination by stones, involves the use of nine, eleven or thirteen stones of different types, representing planets, numbers, directions, character traits and other elements.
Held in the hand of the seeker, the stones take on his or her energies, and when cast, take on patterns forming an answer, as interpreted by either the thrower, or a second party who acts as the diviner.
Place soluble mineral salt crystals, such as common table salt, in a water solution. As the water evaporates, project a question into the solution, asking the salt spirit for an answer. As the salt re-crystallizes, patterns will form that can be interpreted.
Stones used or placed along energy-leys can tap into the flow of earth energies, and utilize the lines as a psychic telegraph, to communicate from one center to another. A more specific method is to engrave holes or concentric circles connected with lines onto a large flat stone, in a pattern that maps out the configuration of power centers and energy-leys over a certain area. Holding the stone and focusing your concentration upon it, it becomes an instrument for tapping into the energy system itself. The sender visualizes his or her message flashing along an engraved line to another center, where a second person either receives the message telepathically, or detects the message as psychically seen on their engraved stone, in a series of flashes or mental pictures.
Placing certain stones beneath your bed or your pillow helps induce lucid dreaming. Before falling asleep, visualize yourself inside the stone, and ask the stone spirit to aid you to receive clear images, and to remember your dreams in the morning. This same visualization technique may be used to contact spirit guides, etheric teachers, angelic guardians, as well as your own levels of Self.
Certain stones have the potential for high frequency communications with other dimensions and spiritual realms. For this reason, stones are sometimes buried with the dead, so that messages can be sent and received from the soul after life, while it is still attached to the body.
Likewise special stones, when engraved with symbols of planets and stars, can open up extraterrestrial communications. A stone which has a natural hole through it, when held up at half an arm’s length and looked through at a star or planet, helps to amplify and focus the energies and communications of the celestial object viewed into the mind of the viewer.
Especially for that aspect of the soul which ultimate came from the stars, stones and crystals are vital for making connection with its resonating star source.
Special stones are often used by nature spirits to focalize the life energies in an area. Using another similar stone, an individual can make contact with the stone spirit, and through it open communications with the nature kingdoms. Or you may offer your own stones to them for their use.
Also, by placing the stones you own in sunlight and viewing them at different times of the day while in a meditative state, faces will begin to appear either among the exterior cracks and crevices of the stone, or deep in its interior. This will be the face of the spirit entity of the stone revealing itself to you. Sometimes more than one face per stone will be present, which are simply the different aspects or characteristics of the entity. Take note of the different times of day each appears, or how the stone is turned, in order to know when and how to communicate with each aspect.
There are some stones which are so highly evolved that they possess special powers, yet do not exist in the physical plane, but rather in the etheric dimensions. Certain existing physical stones can be used to call down their etheric counterparts, to temporarily manifest them into your world for contact and use. It is equally possible to manifest crystals found deep inside the Earth that have not yet appeared on the surface, or even stones formed on other planets, which are unknown to us, yet have very special properties. Many of these possess crystalline Halls of Records, or storehouses of wisdom from past forgotten civilizations, which only with special preparation can be entered and learned from.
In similar fashion, certain existing stones are keys for opening gateways or portals from one dimension or world into another. They serve as vehicles for transporting consciousness—or even the whole body, mind and spirit—to other locations, times, planets, galaxies, universes or realms of higher and etheric vibrations. In coordination with one’s own inner preparation and attunement, and empathy with special stones, the possibilities of out-of-body experiences, or actual body apports or teleports, are endless.
Healing With Stones
Stones have been utilized for healing in a great number of ways throughout millions and even billions of years, and by practically every culture that has ever existed.
Once again, the best way to discover how a stone is to be used for healing is to ask the stone spirit, to allow it to guide you and offer you its maximum energy.
Stones used for healing should be two carats or more, and can be cut (best results are with an odd number of facets), or uncut. The advantage of using uncut stones is that they are generally cheaper to purchase. Use healing stones only at astrologically favorable times, especially benign to the stone’s own planets and signs, plus when the moon is waxing.
It is important not to expect instant results using curative stones—healing instead occurs gradually, because the stones first work on the etheric body, which then manifests well-being by re-tuning the life energies of the cells of the physical body into healthy configurations.
Stones with curative properties can impart healing simply by being held in the left hand (reception), gripped with the thumb, index and middle and third fingers. A healer can psychically transmit curative energy by holding the stone in his or her right hand, and gripped by the thumb and all fingers.
A healer can hold or wear a stone for a length of time, infusing his or her energies into it, then it is given to the patient in order to receive the energies, the stone acting as a catalyst.
Stones can be worn, or carried in a pocket or purse, or placed directly on the body of the patient for periods of time, to impart healing. The energies work best if the stone is worn or held directly against the body location to be healed, and the stone has a good flat surface for contact, as in a cabochon cut. In similar fashion, healing stones may be applied to reflexology and acupuncture points, as a general pressure, or as actual needles, or metal needles capped with stones. Also, a clean stone placed in the mouth and held under the tongue imparts general healing.
Light passing through transparent stones and shining on troubled body areas can stimulate healing. Also, healers gazing through transparent stones at a patient can, by scrying, diagnose a patient’s ills. Some stones are known to change color or become dull in the presence of disease or disorder—sometimes just before they manifest physically.
Visualize yourself, or the person to be healed, inside the stone, and allow the healing light entering through the inner facets to surround and saturate the areas needing attention. In clear stones, such as quartz, choose which energy spectrum of color you wish to utilize, and allow only that color to enter.
Visualize yourself inside the stone, looking at an image of yourself in a perfect state of health. Hold this image, allow it to become clearer with each imaging meditation you do, and surround the image with the healing light and atmosphere of the stone.
Stones worn by a healer, or as part of a pendulum, or dowsing rods, or as a portion of a specially designed healing scepter or staff, can be utilized to either diagnose or project healing energies.
In minor surgery, such as the removal of skin defects, a healing stone can be incorporated into the knife handle or blade.
Stones such as jade, which can be shaped into flat pieces, can be made into gongs, bells, chimes or mobiles, imparting healing through their toning sounds.
Placed on top of a picture of a patient, or some artifact belonging to him or her—such as a lock of hair, fingernail, blood sample or article of clothing—a stone can offer positive results by remote healing.
A stone situated in a room the shape of which aids in amplifying its energies, can have important therapeutic value for the person within the room. Placing a stone in the home, in a central location, or in each of the room corners, can become the focal points for family health, balancing and protection.
A number of healing stones can be placed in specific energy configurations, and patients can meditate upon it, as in an altar arrangement, or walk around or through the configuration in specific directions or movements, depending on the ailment.
Typical energy configurations consist of two lines which the patient passes between, or a circle of stones the patient winds in and out of in a clockwise fashion, or a maze or spiral that focuses on re-aligning body energy centers.
One Native American method involves burying a quartz crystal in the earth along with an offering, then placing a person over it in a prone position, head pointing north, and surrounding the person with a circle of quartz and other healing stones. The healer takes his or her focus crystal, held in the right hand and its point directed downward. The healer then passes the focus crystal up and down slowly over the body, twelve to twenty inches above it, to give the body an auric cleansing. Then the crystal is paused over each chakra, and the person is asked to direct healing light into the body at each point, to the balance of the whole.
The patient themselves must be the initiator of the healing process, and they are also to be reminded that no healing can be done without the aid of the Earth Mother, who gives of Her energies in the process. The focus crystal may turn hot over certain body points, indicating the need for the release of energy, while in other portions it may turn cold, indicating the need for energy infusion. At this time, special stones may be used in these spots—violet to blue stones for hot areas, yellow to red stones for cold areas, and green stones for general balancing.
Always wash all crystals and stones used after each session, to cleanse them of the disharmonious energies which may have affected them, or have been absorbed by them.
Stones moved rapidly in a spinning motion, as at the end of a pendulum, or placed on the blades of a rotating fan, impart healing vibrations—the faster the spin, the higher the vibration. A clockwise spin takes out impurities, while a counter-clockwise spin instills healing energy.
Healers can also implant etheric crystals and gems within a person in different areas of the body, for healing or for other purposes. At birth, or at the time of high Initiation, an etheric lapis lazuli or azurite or diamond can be psychically projected above the Third Eye of the person, to aid in his or her psychic development. An etheric sapphire or alexandrite stone can be psychically placed to hover over the crown chakra for attuning to spiritual energies and Highest Wisdom. Or an etheric emerald , malachite, jade of turquoise can be psychically sown into each palm of the hand, to enhance healing powers.
Stones can be ground up and powdered, or burnt to ash as in the Hindu ayurvedic process, then mixed with water, rose oil, wine or honey, forming what is called a tincture, which can be taken internally as a homeopathic remedy. A variation of this is to inhale the powder or ash rather than drinking it. Two problems with this method is the expense of the stones, which can never be used again, and second, if the stone is not pulverized or burnt properly, leaving tiny splinters of stone, these splinters can act like broken glass inside the digestive system or lungs, as a severe irritant.
A better method of healing is to utilize the stone as an elixir. Place the stone in a glass container, cylinder-shaped or if possible pyramid-shaped, filled with eight ounces of spring water. Keep the container sealed and in constant sunlight from sunrise to sunset, ideally for nine hours. Meditate or chant over the mixture at least once every hour, to infuse it with your own healing energies. Then remove the stone, dry it and put it in a dry pyramid frame or container for re-energizing. Take the container of water and also store it in a safe place. The water will have taken on the healing vibrations of the stone, and can be taken internally, four to six drops daily, or used as a wash or a massage mixed with oil, or mudpack when mixed with earth or healing clay, or placed within the bathtub when you take a bath, for soaking and healing.
The advantage to such a method is the stone is not dissolved or damaged but lasts indefinitely, and spring water is readily available.
Variations on this procedure include: tinting the storage container with a color complementary to that of the stone; subjecting the mixture to continuous tones, sounds or music of healing quality; combining the water of several stones together of similar healing properties as an improved elixir; mixing the water with its healing equivalents in the plant kingdom—herbs, roots, leaves, seeds, flowers, oil essences or fruit juice, and create a tonic or cleanser; and use the elixir to water plants, amplifying their healing properties.
Remote healing can be accomplished by taking an artifact of the patient—skin scraping, fingernail, hair lock, sample of blood—and soaking it in the elixir.
Special points that a healer using stones should remember are: Increase the amount of silica in your system, the main ingredient of quartz and a vital element in the connecting tissues of the brain, spinal cord and nerve fibers. Silica may be found in lettuce, onions, figs, cabbage, asparagus, peas, carrots, egg yolks, cherries, strawberries, rice, gooseberries, nuts and cucumbers.
The healer should maintain good health in mind, body and spirit. Never seek praise or reward for your healing services. Always accomplish all healing in permission with Divine Will and in harmony with all energies in the Universe. Heal not just the symptoms, but the cause, otherwise the illness will return to the body. Have faith to be certain that no healing is impossible, but be practical to realize that not all healing can be accomplished, or is even desirable. Always remember that stones are only tools of the healer, that you as a healer are but a channel of higher energies, and that it is the patient who ultimately heals himself or herself, as they are receptive to the flow of Divine existence, and their rightful place within it.
Of paramount importance to the Earth Healer is the realization that all of the techniques employing stones for healing, as well as for communications and other purposes, can be utilized not just between people, but also between yourself and the Earth Mother. Look at the Earth Mother as a living being, speak to Her, and heal and balance Her, in the same way as you would any other living intelligent being around you.
The stones you have are the jewels of the Mother, which She has lovingly given you as Her gifts to you, that you may work with them, infuse them with your healing and your love, to use not only for yourselves, but also to eventually return back to the Mother, that She too may receive your energy and empathy.
Stones, or the elixirs of stones, may be implanted in sacred places of the planet, to act as homeopathic remedies, to release old energies and patterns, and likewise to impart new vitalization, raising the aura of sacredness to new levels.
Stones may also be exchanged from one sacred site to another, from one Earth Crystal node point to another, in order to help re-balance the energy systems of the globe. Placing specially prepared stones in areas suffering from pollution, toxic waste, nuclear hazards, or ecological imbalance, will not only inaugurate a transformation and transmutation of the problem on a physical level, but will draw to them intelligences—both nature spirit and human—who will work on both spiritual and mental levels to prevent the problem from reoccurring.
Similarly, placing stones in forests, waterfalls, mountain parks, ocean coasts, parklands and wildlife preserves untouched so far by modern waste, can serve as protective barriers, and draw special guardian spirits to these areas, to insure they remain unexploited and untouched.
Always remember, as you use stones for whatever purpose, be continually thankful to the Earth Mother, bless Her, and give Her heartfelt thanksgiving for the beauty and mystery She has shared with us, through the power of Her mineral children.
